Celeste Marie Wilson on All She "Ever Wanted"

Sometimes a cruel twist of fate turns out to be the ultimate blessing in disguise. At just 19, Celeste Marie Wilson was on track to become a published children’s book author, but when the industry struck a blow to her first book deal, everything changed. Having already published poetry, she turned to songwriting for the first time, discovering a new way to tell stories that could move and enchant audiences. By chance, she stumbled into her true calling—and she’s been on the rise ever since.

Now an award-winning songwriter recognized by the Texas State Songwriters Championship, the Hollywood Independent Music Awards, the Josie Awards, and more, Wilson continues to captivate everywhere she goes. Her irresistible charm, bubbly personality, and wise-beyond-her-years insight shine through as she weaves a tapestry of iconic and contemporary genres, influences, and legends into her alternative sound. Every element of her identity—from southern soil to poetic musings—finds its way into her music, sparking intimate, interpretive listening experiences. With each performance, in quaint coffee shops and massive festivals, she grows more confident, more comfortable, and more attuned to how her music makes others feel—how each lyric has the power to stir the soul. “When I’m up on stage, it’s not about me,” she told Buzz Russell of KNES 91.5 FM. “Being able to sing and see people enjoy the story—I wouldn’t trade that for the world.”

“If I Sin For You” cemented Wilson as a writer of depth and nuance—an artist capable of effortlessly evoking the raw feelings of sensuality, darkness, and temptation. Yet one of her greatest strengths lies in her versatility, her ability to shift seamlessly from dramatic confessions to heartwarming love stories without missing a beat. Her latest single, “Ever Wanted,” bounces with all the anticipation, insecurity, and allure of young love—a Cinderella story so perfect it just might come true. The track shimmers with rock energy and sparkling pop sensibilities—the kind one would expect to find on a late-2000s coming-of-age movie soundtrack.

The narrator knows exactly what—and who—she wants, but she can’t bring herself to admit how enamored she is; how the rosiness in his cheeks and the rays of light in his hair make her want to fall at his feet. He’s “everything she has ever wanted”, but surely, it couldn’t go both ways, right? Here, Wilson’s vocals reach a new height of expression—softening as the narrator hesitates and hides away, then soaring as she finally speaks her truth. But it’s her budding lover who brushes off doubt and steps forward, confessing his feelings first. It’s the dream realized: he feels the same, seeing her as she truly is, just as she sees him. It’s a fairytale ending brought to life—two hearts meeting in perfect harmony, as if it was meant to be all along.

There are few matters of the heart more powerful than an irresistible crush blooming on the night of a high school prom. Teaming up once again with Cold Creek Productions, the “Ever Wanted” music video feels like stepping back into that gym, auditorium, or community hall—rekindling the thrill of searching for love beneath the shimmer of a rented disco ball. It takes real courage to leave it all out on the dance floor—and Celeste, all done up in a sparkling blue dress that catches every flicker of light, struggles to find the words caught in her throat. Around her, nervous young couples laugh and twirl, and she knows she could be one of them, too. But vulnerability takes immense bravery. Still, there’s an invisible pull between them, an undeniable magnetism drawing them closer until he gently takes her hand and leads her onto the floor with a smile. Beaming with joy, it feels like Wilson is turning the page toward a fun-filled, brand new chapter—one where the music never stops, magical nights never end, and true love keeps on dancing.

Your background as a poet really shines through—does that influence how you write your lyrics?

My poetry is absolutely a huge part of my songwriting. Lots of my songs start with fragments of poetry. Poems are always a good place to start.

“Ever Wanted” captures that rush of young love. What inspired the story behind it?

I’ve actually never been to an actual prom! I was homeschooled in high school, but I’ve always been a bit of a hopeless romantic. Falling in love from across the room at a dance just feels magical.

I had been to the Fort Worth Stockyards, and even though I didn’t fall in love across the room, I watched a lot of people who did while I was singing on stage. I kept thinking about Cinderella, kinda giggling to myself at the idea of a story where she falls in love in the stockyards. Then, I started thinking about how she’s often tagged as not being brave which was rubbing me the wrong way. Finding the courage to be loved as you are, despite not being appreciated in the past is one of the bravest things a person can do. After that, I started working on Ever Wanted. It was a really important message to me. Everyone deserves to find the courage to be loved.

The song mixes nerves, hope, and honesty. Was it tricky to get that balance right?

Honestly, the hardest part of the song was finding the right tempo. It started as a slow song, but it ended up more of a dance song. Anyone who’s ever felt nervous about falling in love can get that mixture of nerves, hope and honesty right. Besides, I don’t think I ever really learned how to lie or fake a feeling. I tend to be brutally honest in my writing about my experiences and my feelings. Honesty makes it easier to get stories right.

The music video feels like a real-life prom dream. What was it like filming that with Cold Creek Productions?

It was an absolute dream to film this video with Cold Creek Productions. It was like having a prom that I never went to. Everyone was so nice, and it was so much fun. Not to mention my dress had pockets, which makes everything ten times better!

The song has that fun, movie-soundtrack energy. Were there any artists or eras that inspired that sound?

I used that Dolly Parton 9-5 beat as a reference, as well as Taylor Swift's earlier eras. I love driving beats, and nothing beats something that feels like it’s at the end of a princess movie from the early 2000s!

You’ve gone from darker songs like “If I Sin For You” to something light and romantic. How do you choose which side of your artistry to explore?

I choose to write about all facets of life. Life isn’t all dark, and it isn’t all light. It’s a push and pull, give and take. There is love. There is loss. I think it’s important to let life take you to where and what to write next. Authenticity is the most important part of my creative process, and when I wrote this song, it felt very authentic to me.

You’ve said performing is about making others feel something. What’s been your favorite fan or audience moment so far?

I actually had one of my best friends from high school surprise me at one of my shows so I played their favorite song of mine, Drowning Under. I’m really lucky to have friends who support me, and I’m even luckier to have the opportunity to sing something that means something to them.

“Ever Wanted” feels like a fresh start—what’s next for you and your music?

I have lots of projects swirling around. Some are still cooking and too early to announce, but I would like to share that I have an album coming out 2026. Bring your notebooks and pens because you’ll be going to class with my new album, “English 1301”.
